Common questions

Kitchen utensils
Choose utensils for the pans they meet: silicone, nylon and wood are safe on non-stick; stainless steel is the most durable for steel pans and grills. Colour-coded or long-handled tools help in busy commercial kitchens.

What is it used for?
Lifting food out of oil or stock and skimming foam.

How is it cared for?
Wipe it clean and dry it straight away so it does not rust; keep it out of standing water.

Is it safe on non-stick pans?
Metal tools can scratch non-stick coatings; use silicone, nylon or wooden tools on non-stick.

How is it cleaned?
Stainless steel and silicone go in the dishwasher; hand-wash wood and dry it straight away.
